No I will not fight your culture war
Or join your rhetoric combat,
Launching ballistic sound bites at “them”
Tipped with deadly, vitriol warheads.
Every war has its casualties;
Collateral damage to reckon.
You can win battles but lose the war,
Conquer a nation but not the hearts.
Rule the land, yet as occupiers
Winning and losing at the same time.
Consider your foe, for which Christ died,
For him you will give a reckoning.
Whether with tread of your verbal tank
You trod him flat, into bloody field
Or Samaritan-physician like,
Healed the patient’s fatal heart sickness.
Recall your true foe, who wears not skin
But is a spirit cloaked in darkness
